11 Months

Our baby girl is 11 months tomorrow! The timeless cliché is once again true: she really is growing up far too fast!

This past month was so special as Amelie met her ‘Mummum’ and ‘Umpah’ and they in turn were able to get to know their first grandchild! While they were visiting she cut her third tooth and also took her first steps. She loves walking from Mommy to Daddy and back, and is managing several steps on her own already despite her tiny size one feet! She also ‘insists’ we applause her at every turn much to our amusement. Amelie doesn’t understand that you need to “walk before you can run” and literally drags us around at top speed! Once she is fully independent on her legs we are going to be kept so busy!!

Her wonderfully strong personality which has become more and more evident is an absolute joy to us. Energetic, outgoing, entertaining; she is so much like her father it is a fantastic testimony that God created her specially for our family.

Just when we think we couldn’t possibly love her more our hearts swell, the capacity for love grows and is immediately filled. Thank you Lord for such a precious gift.

Old Year’s Reflection

Looking back at 2009 I cannot see anything but God’s abundant grace and blessing. It is a year that we will always hold dear to our hearts. A year of spiritual growth, miracles, new friendships and utter joy. The year Amelie came home.
I cannot quite comprehend that exactly a year ago we had just decided to start looking into adoption. Adopting from Ethiopia, let alone Africa hadn’t even crossed our minds. Yet here we are 12 months on parents to a beautiful, precious little girl. The daunting process which should have taken 12-18 months to complete finished in just 6! We have been told how lucky we are by those who do not know our God. It is with great joy and confidence we can smile and say “no, we are blessed!”.

Great is our God. The God who is always good regardless of the circumstances. The God who is worthy of our praise in every situation. We are so thankful for our little reminder of the God we worship.
